The Californian education system is not particularly known
for there high standards or student achievements but when American high school
seniors came out at the bottom of the international math and science tests, and
California turned down three acclaimed scientists, one a Nobel Prize winner, who
offered to design them new curriculum, there is definitely a problem with the
system.
If they refuse new curriculum written by some of the best
minds in the country, then the teachers cannot complain or blame the courses,
so then, the problem(s) must be the teachers and/or students; as Martha Collins
demonstrated, a good teacher can turn bad students around and likewise, a bad
teacher can turn good students down.
There is an abundance of teachers out there but not all
comply to the government agenda, so they need not apply because what the state
does not want is teachers that might actually teach students to think for
themselves instead of repeating what is taught, propaganda particularly; that
is why they do not want help from those who made it to where they are because
they were free thinkers that did not conform to the limitations of public
education.
