75-14 Could Judas have refused to betray Jesus?

Luke 22:21-22  But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.  For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

As we are all predestined with a purpose in our lives, Judas was no exception and although he was predestined to be one of the twelve disciples, the Bible does not say that he was predestined to be the betrayer.
He had the freedom to choose and he chose to betray Jesus, his friend, teacher, and the Son of God for thirty pieces of silver.
As soon as Jesus was condemned, Judas felt his sin and tried to redeem himself by returning the silver but his sin weighted so heavily and he despaired so deeply that he hung himself.

Matthew 26:15
”and said, “What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.”

Matthew 27:3  Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,”

Matthew 27:5
”And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.”
