75 Question 27 How can we love God but ignore His law?

1 John 2:3-5  “And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.  Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected.  By this we may know that we are in him”

If we love God in our hearts it will show through in our actions, for a son that loves his mother will not take his inheritance and leave her desolate, but will stay near, caring for her through old age.
How much more should we love our heavenly Father who sent His only son to die for our sins while we were still sinners, how much more should love come through in our obedience to God’s law?
No one is perfect or without sin, but when a man continues to live in sin, not keeping God’s commandments, by his actions we know he is not apart of the body of Christ for 1 John 5:18 saysWe know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.”

Matthew 15:6He need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God.”

Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”  And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.”
